Introduction
Axminster is a small, ancient market town surrounded by beautiful countryside
in the east of Devon in the south west of the UK. The centre of the old market
town is dominated by the Minster Church of St Mary the Virgin, parts of which
date back to Saxon times and more latterly in the 17th century the town gave
shelter to the Royalists during the English Civil War.
